SOAR is the amalgamation of Christian Meeting / Prayer groups from business around the Southbank area such as The Herald & Weekly Times, IBM, ExxonMobil, Lewis Holdway Lawyers and IPA.
SOAR originated through HWT and ExxonMobil working together in 2006 to bring the Alpha Course (Questions regarding Christianity) to their colleagues in Southbank. Leaders from HWT and EM found that it was a lot easier to do such things as The Alpha Course when working together, and through this unity and amalgamation of SOAR came to being.
SOAR is non-denominational with the blessing of unity through people from all walks of life being involved. The primary focus of SOAR is to see people working / living in Southbank come to know the wonderful and amazing Jesus Christ, and to receive all the blessings and promises that a relationship with Jesus brings,
Individual company prayer / fellowship groups gather together regularly weekly or fortnightly and this varies from company to company. Once a month, all companies under the SOAR umbrella are invited to meet in the St Johns Southbank lounge for praise and worship. Also, SOAR organise regular Church meetings such as Easter and Christmas services to reach out to our work colleagues with the good news of Jesus. SOAR also run training courses and DVD presentations.
SOAR is open to anyone who wants to be involved. If you would like more information on what SOAR does, or you would like your workplace Christian prayer group/fellowship to link up with other Christians in the Melbourne area, please contact SOAR today.
